Crohn's and Colitis Walk 2012

May 12th -

Once again, God blessed us with beautiful weather for the Crohn's and Colitis Walk and it was a huge success! Since I was on the planning committee, we got to the walk a little early to help with last minute set up and scope out all the activities. Our walk manager, Tovah Domenick, did a phenomenal job considering it was her first year working with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

We got registered and picked up our shirts, hats, and bracelets that allowed us to participate in all the activities and food!

Amaya's favorite activity was the "Bounce House."

And of course, the Crazy Hair Station!

Even the "Honored Patient" got his hair colored - BLUE!

Grandpa and Grandma Horning even participated!!!!

Tovah arranged for some massage school students to offer chair massages... I got one and it felt great to relax before the walk!

Amaya got her face painted....

Steve got a temporary "Take Steps" tattoo...

Amaya got her picture taken with the Rochester Honker's mascot - Slider.

Two of our youngest "walkers!" Tessa and Tate

Announcements and introductions prior to the walk.

Our "Honored Patient," Steve, sharing a little about his journey with Crohn's disease. It's a little surreal to think that a year ago, Steve was unable to participate in the walk because he had just had his third major surgery in a little less than 2 years. He was sick for so long, and now he has felt better than ever! What a tremendous answer to prayer! I am so proud of Steve and he truly is an inspiration!

Team Gatzke led the walk, following the bagpipers around Silver Lake.

It was pretty amazing looking behind us to see everyone supporting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Team Gatzke - Miles, Amaya, Grandpa Lowell, Pauline (hiding in the back), Grandma Ruth Ann, Steve, Arwen, Lydia, Grandma Elaine, Annika, Grandpa Paul, Me, Tate, Jen, Steve, Tessa, and Cooper. I will never be able to express my gratitude for those that walked beside us, supported us financially, and prayed for us. You are a tremendous blessing to our family and we are so thankful for each and every one of us. Together, our team ranked as the top third fundraiser and raised $1,780 towards Crohn's and Colitis research! Thank you again for supporting us!
