Jenn and Steve working on setting up the new stroller.
Helen entertaining Amaya and the rest of us!
Navy Pier! The weather was still hot, hot, hot... but by the lake it was manageable.
The Children's Museum is located right by Navy Pier and since it closed at 5pm, we decided to play first before we walked around the Pier. The first area had several "restaurants" set up to make pizza, burgers, hot dogs, etc. Here Jenn and Helen are serving up Amaya a yummy hot dog!
And now Amaya's going to make some for them!
They had the greatest firefighter station and fire truck set up! You could dress up as a real Chicago firefighter with overalls, a jacket, and boots.
Amaya fighting out the fires!
This was one of Amaya's favorite exhibits: a water station. Helen's showing Amaya how to pull down the handle to get some of us wet.
Jenn's trying to retaliate!
Eventually, I got Amaya a raincoat from the museum's assortment since she was getting so wet!
Time was ticking rapidly, so we headed on to the next exhibit: The Wilderness! There was a cute little log cabin that Amaya really enjoyed playing in.
Time for supper girls!
Come on, Helen! Let's go on a canoe ride!
The fish weren't really biting on the lake, so Amaya tried a different spot.
The museum had slides, slides, and more slides. This one made music when you came down the slide.
What I enjoyed most about the museum was that there were plenty of things for grown-ups to do as well. Here, Steve built a plane out of foam and then used this machine to send it up in the air and we watched it take off.
Almost at the top!
Amaya watching the plane come down.
There was another area that we didn't even have much time to go through. They had different vehicles you could sit in and drive.
Who wouldn't want to drive their own CTA?
There were several tables set up to play chess or checkers and even had huge dominoes to knock over. Amaya really liked moving the huge chess pieces all over the board.
A beautiful mural near all the board games.
After the museum closed, we walked around the garden on the upper level and got a few pictures.
Jenn, me, and Helen
We even had the opportunity to watch a little fencing.
Then, we grabbed a quick bite to eat in the food court. Steve and I ate at "American Dog" (supposedly the best hot dogs in Chicago... I think my mom's are still better).
Then, we walked and toured Navy Pier. By this time, the temperature had cooled down and it was a great evening.
This is a picture of the AeroBalloon. Similar to a hot air balloon, but it's attached to the ground.
We didn't have time to go on a boat and tour the Chicago skyline, but someday...
The famous Ferris Wheel that Amaya really wanted to go on.
And so we did! Jenn, Amaya, and I were the only ones interested in going up though.
A few views of the skyline as we get higher
and higher...
and higher!
The Swings... (we didn't want to show Amaya the swings because she wasn't tall enough to go on them).
The last view of the skyline...
Can you believe our little girl went on this and loved it!
Overall, a gorgeous day filled with lots of laughs and a lot of memories.
